Massage at School Street Studio at our Waterville Location

Marian Flaherty believes that the demands of modern day living place  stress on our bodies and minds. Life asks much of us and we do our best to deliver.  She graduated from Fuller Circles School for Therapeutic Massage in 2003, where she learned about the gentle power of massage.  She feels that the most gratifying part of her work is to see how individuals are transformed mentally, physically and spiritually after one hour on the table.  Therapeutic massage actually alters the “chemical soup” in the brain reducing the level of stress hormones and increasing the hormones that make us feel good.  It has always struck her as a marvel that something so simple and non invasive can accomplish so much.
Marian also offers hot stone massage and massage for relaxation, pain relief, pregnancy.

Polarity & Reike at School Street Studio in Waterville

When Katharina Burdet had her very first polarity therapy treatment, she knew right away that this approach was for her.  She found the session incredibly relaxing on the deepest level, nurturing and supportive for body and mind, while feeling deeply cared for, and she decided right then, that she wanted to learn this specific bodywork.  Within two years she became a registered polarity practitioner, studying the work of Dr. Randolph Stone, the founder of polarity, with her teacher Barbara Joseph. She opened her own practice in 2007 and has been working with clients of all ages, helping them to resolve imbalances that have accumulated from stress, trauma and injuries, both physical and emotional.  Techniques include light to firm touch, gentle rocking and stretching, reflexology and acupressure points.  The client remains fully clothed during a session, which lasts about 1 1/4 hour.  In her practice she draws from over 30 years experience as a Registered Nurse, from being a hospice volunteer for 10 years and from being a Reiki Master. The most satisfying aspect of polarity therapy for her is how she can use her skills to create an environment of safety and trust, where it is possible for her clients to reach deep within themselves and access their own truth, their own wisdom, their own knowledge to find greater health and well-being.

She finds polarity therapy to be remarkably versatile, comprehensive and inclusive, and she is very excited that by expanding her practice to School Street Yoga, she will be able to introduce more clients to the enormous benefits this treatment modality has to offer.

Some responses from clients:I felt warm and safe and pampered and soo relaxed”, “I was in a wonderful space I have never enjoyed before”, “It was great to feel the connection and flowing of body, emotion and spirit together”
